Description
The official Northern Forest Canoe Trail maps, developed by the organization that conceived and coordinated the project. The NFCT traverses New York, Vermont, Quebec, New Hampshire, and Maine, and includes put-in points, portages, campsites, local contact information, and permit guidelines. These water- and tear-resistant color contour maps offer detailed route descriptions. Paddlers begin the journey at Lake Memphremagog in Quebec, follow the Clyde and Nulhegan Rivers, and end at the Connecticut River, covering a total of 60 miles. The route crosses the Northeast Kingdom, a remote and rugged area in Vermont known for its granite hills and sparse population. Along the way, paddlers can watch for moose, explore historical sites like the old Clyde River Dam, and immerse themselves in the culturally rich homeland of the Western Abenaki tribe.
